Leonard specialises in regulatory advice relating to the insurance sector. In this area he advises insurers, InsurTechs and other companies on regulatory requirements, especially arising from insurance supervisory law as well as insurance distribution law. He has a focus on Solvency II, IDD and the European Green Deal and provides regulatory advice on the arrangement of distribution systems and insurance supervisory law requirements in respect of the licensing process as well as capital investments.
He also advises insurance and reinsurance companies on M&A and other transactions, including sale and purchase of shares and of (re-)insurance portfolios, the establishment of insurance companies and their branches in Germany, run-off advice and the insurance supervisory requirements of the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority BaFin. In addition, Leomard specialises on the specific insurance lines D&O, product liability, cyber and residual debt insurance.
