Copyright & media law

Our copyright and media group reflects the modern business: rooted in the old-world of exploiting and protecting works, our clients are moving to embrace the new-world opened up by digitisation, technology and social media.

We've advised many of the great producers, publishers and users of film, fashion, music, literature, news and games for decades, and we now advise the household names in a disrupting media landscape. We're recognised as a leading firm for advising on social media and user generated content issues.

Digitisation has changed the game for both owners and licensees of copyright work over the last decade. It has forced media companies to develop new delivery and payment models, new technical requirements, and respond to the new ways in which the world consumes content.

If new copyright legislation is introduced to grapple with the digital transformation of media, we'll be there to translate the legalease and guide you through it.

Our copyright team will advise you on the use and commercialisation of your content, on licensing and infringements of rights, and the impact of copyright on developing business models. We represent clients before the European courts, and we're closely involved in the development of copyright policy in Europe.

Our media team will advise you in all areas of media law, including broadcasting regulation, advertising law and sponsorship. We'll also support you if you face disputes, eg involving copyright levies or other regulatory aspects.
