Blue Elephant Energy acquires majority stake in project developer Solar215 with Taylor Wessing

Blue Elephant Energy GmbH (‘BEE’) has acquired a majority stake in Solar215 GmbH (‘Solar215’). The Hamburg-based solar, wind and battery storage operator was legally advised on the acquisition by a team from Taylor Wessing, led by Hamburg-based partners and corporate energy experts Jasmin Schlee and Carsten Bartholl.

Solar215 is a Hamburg-based project developer specialising exclusively in battery energy storage systems (‘BESS’). The company was founded in 2023 and has since built up a project pipeline of 4.5 GW.

By investing in Solar215, BEE recognises the central role of flexible storage solutions in ensuring grid flexibility, integrating renewable energy and decarbonising the power system. In the face of increasing volatility in power generation, battery storage systems make a significant contribution to increasing security of supply. For BEE, this transaction represents a long-term increase in the value of its Central European portfolio.
