Matthew Jones elected Chair of the CLLS Construction Law Committee

Matthew Jones, partner and Head of Taylor Wessing's Construction & Engineering group, has been elected as the Chairman of the CLLS Construction Law Committee, having acted as Vice Chairman and been a member of the Committee for 15 years.

The CLLS (City of London Law Society) is one of the largest professional representative body for solicitors and law firms in the United Kingdom, representing over 17,000 solicitors through individual and corporate membership. The CLLS Construction Committee, together with co-opted members from industry, acts as a forum for construction lawyers working in the City of London to consider and make recommendations on topical areas of law relating to the construction industry. The Committee's work includes the publication of standard industry forms, government and industry consultation on legal change, training and other pro-bono activities for the benefit of the construction sector.

Matthew's election highlights his expertise in all aspects of construction legal matters, including procurement, drafting and negotiation of building and engineering contracts, consultancy appointments and related construction agreements. His work and experience involve dealing with real estate development, development finance, and infrastructure, both in the UK and internationally.

Reacting to the CLLS announcement, Matthew said: "I am very humbled and honoured to be elected as Chairman of the Construction Law Committee. The outgoing Chairman, John Hughes-D'Aeth, deserves particular commendation, as his contribution to the City, the CLLS and to construction law has been outstanding. The Committee is active and productive, significantly due to John's leadership and contribution, and will continue to play a vital role. I look forward to continuing the Committee's important work, collaborating with peers and industry experts."
