We're pleased to announce the appointment of Jamie Humphreys as a partner in our Disputes & Investigations team in London. Jamie's arrival strengthens our market leading product liability and safety offering, as he joins from a leading US firm where he has built a very strong individual brand and reputation within their recognised product liability practice.
Jamie’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for the firm, as Winston & Strawn and Taylor Wessing’s UK led businesses have voted decisively to come together to create Winston Taylor, a transatlantic law firm built for the businesses, people and markets driving capital and innovation. The new firm is intended to be one of the world’s largest transatlantic practices, with strength across major litigation, complex investigations and cross border regulatory matters.
Jamie advises across the full product lifecycle, including regulatory compliance, investigations, product recalls and litigation. His practice spans technology, online marketplaces, electrical and gas appliances, automotive and construction products, with a particular focus on consumer products and an international client base. This work aligns closely with the global, innovation led businesses Winston Taylor is being built to serve.
He brings deep regulatory expertise and has represented clients in some of the most significant investigations conducted by the UK’s Office for Product Safety & Standards (OPSS), including the regulator’s largest investigation to date. He is a strategic advisor to clients on complex multi-jurisdictional recalls and safety issues and is regularly called on to engage with international regulators.
Jamie’s arrival further reinforces our product liability and product regulatory offering as part of our strategy to build a market leading, whole lifecycle products practice. The team is well positioned to advise on the most complex, high value mandates and to meet rising client demand driven by new UK and EU product safety and regulatory legislation, particularly as businesses operate across borders and at scale.
Shane Gleghorn, UK Managing Partner, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Jamie to the firm. He brings exceptional expertise in product liability, regulatory investigations and product safety, all areas of growing strategic importance for our clients. His appointment reflects the focus of our Disputes and Investigations team in relation to product liability and will add to our transatlantic litigation and investigations capability that combines scale, speed and deep sector insight.”
Katie Chandler, partner and head of Disputes & Investigations in the UK, added: “I am thrilled to welcome Jamie to the team. His whole lifecycle approach, regulatory expertise and strong relationships with global technology and consumer products companies are a tremendous addition to our disputes & investigations team and particularly the product liability and safety offering. Together, and as part of the broader Winston Taylor platform, we will be exceptionally well placed to compete for the most significant mandates in the UK and internationally.”
Jamie Humphreys commented: “I am incredibly excited to join Taylor Wessing at such a pivotal moment in the firm’s evolution. The strength of the Disputes & Investigations team and products offering, the reach of the international platform and the vision for Winston Taylor are individually very compelling. Collectively, they provide an outstanding foundation for building a genuinely differentiated, global products practice for our clients that will accelerate the firm’s ambitious international growth plans.”
