abrdn completes £1.5 billion takeover of interactive investor in landmark transaction

Global investment company and asset manager abrdn's £1.5 billion takeover of the UK's leading subscription-based investment platform, interactive investor, has now completed, marking a major acquisition in the personal finance industry.

We have advised interactive investor's shareholders on all aspects of the sale, having an already longstanding relationship with the client. We have advised on all of interactive investor's previous M&A activity including its acquisitions of TD Direct Investing, Alliance Trust Savings, The Share Centre and a direct-to-consumer retail customer book from Equiniti, as well as the disposal of Alliance Trust Savings to Embark.

With a 400,000-strong customer base, consumer-champion mindset and £55 billion assets under management, interactive investor has been advising investors for 25 years on where to house their pensions, ISAs and investments. Its subscription-based model, expert insights and market-leading investments selection has secured its reputation as a go-to investment platform.

The completed acquisition means interactive investor will operate as a standalone company underneath abrdn. interactive investor's model will be integrated into abrdn to expand its customer reach and meet a broader range of client needs, while maintaining and improving on interactive investor's open-architecture, subscription-based model.
