Taylor Wessing’s International China Group has received three awards at this year’s China Business Law Awards 2026. The prestigious China Business Law Journal (CBLJ) recognised the firm in the categories
“M&A (Outbound)”,
“AI, Technology & Telecommunications” and
“Automotive, Industrials & Manufacturing”.
This builds on the firm’s successes in recent years: as early as 2024, Taylor Wessing was recognised in the areas of “Corporate Compliance” and “Employment & Labour”, followed in 2025 by awards as “Legaltech Pioneers” and in the “IP Patent” category.
The China Business Law Awards are among the most prestigious accolades in the Chinese legal market and enjoy a reputation that extends far beyond China to the entire Asian region. In particular, they recognise outstanding achievements in cross-border legal advice.
Christoph Hezel, Co-Head of the China Group at Taylor Wessing, comments: “Receiving these awards again – and this year, in fact, three of them – is a strong sign of the continuous development of our China practice. It confirms our integrated advisory approach across our clients’ entire value chain – from strategic investments to regulatory and technological issues.”
Mike Goldammer, Chief Representative in Shanghai, adds: “Our local presence in China, combined with our international setup, enables us to seamlessly support clients on complex cross-border projects. The awards reflect the trust our clients place in our advice in the Chinese market.”
In the “M&A (Outbound)” category, the firm was particularly recognised for its advice on cross-border transactions. M&A expert Kai Kim comments: “Outbound M&A activities in Europe by Chinese companies have increased again in recent years. Thanks to our outbound M&A expertise on the ground in China, combined with our strong practice in Europe, we have been able to play a leading role in shaping this latest wave of outbound investment.”
The firm was also recognised for its work in the “AI, Technology & Telecommunications” sector. “The dynamism in the fields of AI and digital technologies presents companies with new regulatory and strategic challenges,” says IP expert Dr Jingjing Cao. “We support our clients in utilising innovations in a compliant and legally secure manner and bringing them to market – in accordance with both the Chinese and European legal frameworks,” explains the partner from the Shanghai office.
Taylor’s advisory practice was also recognised in the “Automotive, Industrials & Manufacturing” sector. Michael-Florian Ranft, a China expert with over 30 years’ experience in transaction work, comments: “The transformation of industry – particularly driven by electromobility, digitalisation and new supply chain structures – requires close integration of legal and commercial advice. Our cross-sector expertise enables us to provide clients with comprehensive support throughout this transformation.”
Taylor Wessing’s International China Group has been advising European companies on their business activities in China for more than three decades, as well as Chinese companies seeking to invest and expand in Europe. It comprises more than 50 lawyers who advise on complex Sino-foreign projects and transactions. With these latest awards, Taylor Wessing once again underscores the firm’s strong position in the Chinese market and its comprehensive advisory expertise in key future-oriented industries.
